Stewardship-Part 1

What is stewardship? It is simply a management of something. The Bible tells us be good stewards of our time, talents, and finances. Since God gave us the time, talents, and finances we should honor him  by managing them well.

I would like to thank and honor those in our church who give tithes on a consistent bases. They are faithful stewards of the money God has given them. In obedience they give 10% (a tithe) back to God, because it’s his. In return, God promises these tithers (including me)  several wonderful things that can be found in Mal. 3:10-12.

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe, says the Lord Almighty. Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land, says the Lord Almighty.”

What awesome and gracious promises from our heavenly Father, to those who honor him with their finances. In church, we prayer over our tithes and come into agreement with God’s word. What about you? Are you a good steward of the money God has given you?

What Is Eternal Life?

Yesterday, I sat down and read the Gospel of John. While reading there were two verses that jumped out at me. The first verse was John 3:16.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believed in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”

The second verse was John 17:3.

“Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”

Both these verses talk about eternal life. Many people don’t realize that we were originally created to have eternal life, to never die. In the beginning, God had warned Adam in the Garden of Eden to not eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. That if he did he would surely die (gen. 2:16-17) and as you know he did disobey God.

The other aspect of eternal life is that we would know the true God and Jesus Christ whom he sent. Now don’t get Heaven mixed up with eternal life. They are not the same thing. Heaven is a place. As a believer, Heaven is our true home and where Jesus is preparing a place for us. After you die you will go to Heaven, if you are a believer that is.

You see there is an afterlife. The question is where will you spend your afterlife? There are only two destinations, Heaven and Hell. Those that are believers will spend their eternal life in Heaven with God. Those that are unbelievers will spend their eternal death in Hell.

The key word here is eternal, that is forever. Forever is a long time! Jesus said, he is the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:16) So to have eternal life and to be sure of your heavenly destination, won’t you believe in Jesus?

Heaven or Hell, You Choose

Have you made your choice? It’s funny how people will choose where to vacation and plan it out in detail. They will choose where to eat dinner or what college attend. But their eternal destination is ignored. It’s not a choice to be taken lightly. It’s your eternal life…which is forever. Some think that when you die that’s the end. In reality, it is the beginning; the beginning of your eternal life.

“We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body, and at home with the Lord.” 2 Cor. 5:8

The choice you need to make is where you will live out your eternal life; Heaven or Hell? God says a lot about your eternity. In fact it was so important to him He sent his son Jesus Christ to die for your sins so you could go to Heaven, if you so choose. You see God gives you the choice, because he would never force you to go live with him in heaven. He is a loving God.

“This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” Dt. 30:19

Hell was created by God for the devil and his angels. It was never meant for man. However if you don’t want to go to heaven there is no other choice but hell.

“Then he will say to those on his left,  depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire  prepared for the devil and his angels.” Mt. 25:41

To me personally, it’s a no brainer. I choose life, I choose heaven, I choose to live with Jesus for eternity. If you don’t care or believe in heaven or hell then there is no choice for you to make. Because to make no choice automatically puts your destination in Hell. That’s not my words it’s God’s words.

“Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.” Jn. 3:18

Are you ready to make that choice? Will you choose Heaven? Will you choose Jesus? Eternity is a long time. Why not plan for your future. A future of blessings and not curses. If you are truly ready, then lets pray together right now.

Jesus, I want to live with you in eternity. I choose life. I denounce the devil. I denounce his power in my life and over me. I receive your gift of eternal life. I repent of my sins and ask you to come into my heart. Jesus be Lord over my life. I love you and thank you for eternal life, in Jesus name, amen!
