I can’t take their picture and show them to you, for the kids are in the foster system and therefore under protective rules. Yet with all their emotional needs they wanted to help other needy kids. You see in church I presented the opportunity for them to do that through the Operation Christmas Child program. You can learn all about it here at this link.
After playing a video of children from around the world receiving a shoebox filled with toys and a book about Jesus, these foster kids wanted to help too. Such a show of love from one heart to another! I presented the new trash can to be used for storing all the new toys and other goodies to fill the shoeboxes with. I asked the kids if they would like to decorate the trash can with stickers. I had several sheets of Operation Christmas Child stickers. They happily wanted to do that and did a good job I might add.
One of the kids, and pre-teen girl said she wanted to decorate pens with colored tape and flowers to put into the shoeboxes for the kids. What a giving heart! I promised every Sunday we would show another video of children receiving their Christmas shoe boxes to keep us all motivated until we are ready to pack our shoeboxes and ship them off.
Maybe in the giving of themselves to help others, these children will heal a little more in their own hearts.
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” James 1:27
What these precious foster children don’t know is that they too will receive their own Christmas shoebox! I can’t wait to see the joy and surprise in their faces.
