Do animals go to heaven? Putting all feelings aside, let me take you on a journey by looking at this question from a Biblical point of view. What does God say?
And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. Gen. 1:24-25
Right from the beginning, God saw the animals he created was good. Then we read a few chapters down he says to Noah,
“You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive. You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them.” Noah did everything just as God command him. Gen. 6:19-22
We have now established that God calls his animal creations good and cares enough about them to save them from the flood along with Noah and his family.
Now as God’s creation, we worship our creator. We love and praise him for who he is! Read what Jesus said in the gospel of Luke as his disciples and followers were praising him.
Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” “I tell you”, he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” Lk. 19:39-40
The stones could not keep quiet either! If they could not how much more could animals or man?
There is an event in the gospel of Mark about a herd of pigs and demons. You may of read about it before and wondered as I once did about the whole event. Let’s see what happened.
A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside. The demons begged Jesus, ‘”send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them.” He gave them permission, and the impure spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned. Mk. 5:11-13
Do you see the pigs would rather die than be separated from God!
I have one more thing to present you with. We find this truth in the book of Revelation. The apostle John describes what he sees.
I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war…The armies of heaven were following him, riding white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Rev. 19:11, 14
If there are horses in heaven why not other animals? God would not have animals in heaven and then not let our animals come too. Our heavenly Father is Love, and he is kind. Of course animals go to heaven! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
